National Payroll Week® (NPW), September 7 - 11, is the best week of the year for payroll professionals and the employees they pay, even if celebrations may look a bit different this year. Check out these four simple ways to join the NPW celebration that won’t require a face mask or six feet of space:
1 - Take the NPW Survey for a Chance to Win a Free Paycheck
The annual NPW “Getting Paid In America” survey is a cornerstone of the NPW campaign and helps the APA place payroll topics in the media spotlight. Complete the online survey and be eligible to win the survey grand prize of a bonus paycheck and vacation for two. The survey is completely online so it can easily be shared on social media, on your company’s intranet, or via email communications to friends and co-workers to encourage them to complete the survey as well.
2 - Plan a Virtual Celebration
Many payroll teams use NPW as a time to plan festive luncheons and companywide payroll awareness initiatives, but this year you may want to consider converting these to virtual events. This could include a virtual luncheon using a web conferencing tool where you invite your coworkers to meet their payroll team and play NPW or payroll related virtual games. Thanks to various online tools, like Zoom, WebEx, and Google Hangouts, being together can be as easy as having a stable Internet connection!
3 - Companywide Acknowledgment
Make sure that your company’s payroll team still receives the recognition they deserve from the whole company by sharing digital NPW messages acknowledging your team and the importance of the payroll function. There are a number of digital platforms you can take advantage of. Consider any of the following to ensure your payroll team is recognized:
- Request to have info added to your company’s intranet
- Coordinate an NPW themed email blast to the whole company
- Ask your company’s communications team to share a post to the company’s social media accounts recognizing your payroll team during NPW and tag it with #payrollweek
- Request an NPW message about your team be shared to your company’s employee self-service homepage during the week of NPW
- Add a special NPW message to your email signature line during the week of NPW
